The function of the impeller is to directly transfer the mechanical energy from the prime mover to the liquid, thereby increasing its static pressure energy and kinetic energy (primarily the former). Slurry pump impellers are primarily made of high-chromium alloy, natural rubber, A49 material, polyurethane, Cr30 material, etc. The main pumps include the AH series slurry pump, G-type grit pump, and AHR rubber slurry pump impellers.
The slurry pump impellers include closed impellers, semi-open impellers, and open impellers.
1. Closed impeller: It consists of blades and front and rear cover plates. Closed impellers have high efficiency but are more difficult to manufacture. They are most commonly used in centrifugal pumps and are suitable for conveying clean liquids with low viscosity, such as clear water and solutions, that do not contain particles.
2. Semi-open impeller: There are generally two types of structures. One is the front semi-open type, which consists of a rear cover plate and blades. This structure has a relatively low efficiency, and to improve efficiency, an adjustable-gap sealing ring is required. The other is the rear semi-open type, which consists of a front cover plate and blades. Since it can use the same sealing ring as the closed-type water pump impeller, its efficiency is basically the same as that of the closed-type impeller. In addition to conveying liquid, the blades also have the sealing function of the back blades or auxiliary impeller. The semi-open impeller is suitable for conveying liquids containing suspended solids, fibers, and other suspended matter. The semi-open impeller is less difficult to manufacture, has lower costs, and has strong adaptability. In recent years, it has been increasingly used in centrifugal pumps for oil refining and chemical industries, and is also used for conveying clean water and liquids similar to clean water.
3. Open-type impeller: An impeller consisting only of blades and blade reinforcement ribs, without front and rear cover plates. Open-type impellers have fewer blades, typically 2-5. Water pump impellers have low efficiency and are less commonly used, mainly for conveying liquids with higher viscosity and slurry-like liquids.
